At Funeral Mass: Thousands Honour Legacy Of Late CMA Yaounde Archdiocesan President

Thousands have bid farewell to Christopher Njuakom Feka, Yaounde Archdiocesan President of the Catholic Men Association, CMA.

This was during a funeral mass held at the Mary Queen of the Apostles Basilica in Mvolye, Yaounde, on Saturday, January 31. After the funeral mass, Brother Feka who died January 2, 2026, was later laid to his final resting place in Yaounde.

Among the multitudes at the funeral were; family members, friends, former school mates, colleagues and members of the Catholic Men Association.

Br. Feka became a member of the CMA in 2006,  grew through the ranks to serve as president of the Association’s Mvog-Ada branch in Yaounde from 2016 to 2021 when he was elected as president of the church group.

Mourners from the deceased’s famed alma mater, Saint Bede’s Ex-Students Association, SABESA, described the late CMA Yaounde leader as a selfless figure who lived a life of humility, kindness and community service.

The National Chaplain of the CMA, Rev Fr Kizito Forbi, who joined other clergy at the funeral mass, prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased.

Rev Fr Forbi described the late Br Feka as a pillar figure behind the growing contribution of the CMA to evangelisation. He recalled that Br Feka was among the first batch of CMA Yaounde members who mobilised to ease the evangelisation work of priests.

The priest said under him, CMA branches in Yaounde grew from 18 to 33 while membership expanded from 350 to 450. He lamented that: “A CMA cornerstone has been removed”.

Tributes galore

One of his sons, Mark Bertrand Feka, said his father was a man of his word and never took his family and spiritual life lightly.

“He has really left a hole in our hearts. He was truly a man of his word..,” Bertrand Feka stated.

Another of his sons, Cedric Feka, who is one of the three children the deceased had with his wife, Dr Stella Anumbundem Niboh, said his father will be remembered for his humility, kindness and for being pillar that covered the rest of the family.

“He was someone we went to when we needed support and someone we always wanted to relate to during difficult times. His being away from us now has left a big vacuum. Words can’t express how much we are going to miss him,” Cedric Feka said.

Excellent spiritual leader

Former CMA Yaounde president, Prof Ewang Sone Andrew, said the late Br Feka was a selfless spiritual leader who showed high concern for everyone.

“He left his mark on us. He touched our lives as a friend, not just as a member of the CMA. He was someone who thanks to his great faith in God, led us to spirituality,” Prof Ewang Sone declared.

Prof Ewang Sone prayed God to “…give us other men like him to continue growing our church”.

He also recalled how the deceased convinced him to join the CMA 20 years ago and his subsequent involvement in enhancing his spiritual life.

Enter CMA president general

The President General of the CMA, Okie Johnson Ndoh, said the deceased contributed immensely in the creation of the CMA in other Dioceses in Ecclesiastical Province of Yaounde.

Okie noted that such efforts highlighted the late CMA official’s legacy as a man who was committed to God and prioritized general interest over his.

“He went above himself to sacrifice his interest and that of the family, to satisfy God, to bring membership together,” Okie told reporters, adding that, the late Feka left them with the assignment to “do as he did, to continue what he left behind and to do more for the love of God”.
