CAMASEJ AGM Upcoming, With Award Ceremony

The Cameroon Association of English-Speaking Journalists, CAMASEJ, has announced the holding of its upcoming Annual General Meeting, scheduled from January 29 to 31, 2026, in the seaside resort town of Limbe.

Among the activities marking the English-speaking journalists conclave, will be an award ceremony to recognize the most outstanding journalists in ten categories respectively.

Reporter of the Year (separate nominations for Television, Radio, Newspaper, and Online Media); Wache Francis Young Journalist Award”; Best GBV Reporter of the Year; Best Child Rights Reporter of the Year; Best Election Reporter of the Year; Most Resilient Veteran Journalist; Best Community Media House; Best Advocacy Media House; Best Environment/Climate Change Reporter; Best Sports Journalist of the Year.

Among the ten award categories, is the Wache Francis Young Journalist Award”, a special and honorary distinction aimed at paying homage to the founder of The Post Newspaper, a fervent lover of the written press and militant of good journalism.

According to the Cameroon Association of English-Speaking Journalists (CAMASEJ) communique, young journalists working in text-based media (print and online) in Cameroon are called upon to submit their best works in the Wache Francis Young Journalist Award 2025.

The Award, in honour of late Wache Francis, founding member and one-time president of CAMASEJ, recognises excellence in reporting of environment and conservation, conflict, corruption, human rights violations, technology, amongst other issues.

The award aims at promoting good journalism among English-speaking journalists. And perpetuates the legacy of Late Wache Francis.

Regarding its eligibility, the competition is opened to all young journalists in Cameroon whose working language is English and work for established text-based media houses. Freelance journalists are also eligible.

All applicants must be 30 years old or younger by Wednesday December 31, 2025

The Wache Francis Young Journalist Award competition is open only to duly registered and up-to-date members of CAMASEJ.

Based on the decision of the jury, after careful examination of all entries, a single winner will be rewarded with an award certificate and cash prize. The winner will be announced and awarded during the gala night on Saturday January 31, 2026, in Limbe.
