CAMTEL paints CAMASEJ AGM Blue

Cameroon Telecommunications, CAMTEL, has reaffirmed its commitment in supporting the activities carried out by media professionals, key actors in its digital transformation process.
This was during a three-day, Annual General Assembly of the Cameroon Association of English-Speaking Journalist, CAMASEJ, that ran from January 29-31, 2026 in the seaside resort town of Limbe, South West Region.
The Association brought together, a total number of about 500 journalists, from the North West, South, East, West, Centre, South, Littoral and Centre Regions respectively.
Speaking to The Herald Tribune, Benedict Ndinwa, Corporate Communications Officer at CAMTEL, outlined the State-supremo’s efforts in supporting a free press in Cameroon.
“It was a wonderful ceremony, CAMTEL had with the Cameroon Association of English-Speaking Journalists Association, CAMASEJ.”
“CAMTEL is accompanying CAMASEJ to rethink their mission, to review their constitution and set the pace for a new way, on behalf of the association, ” he said.
For Benedict Ndinwa, it’s a relationship that dates back at 2019, that CAMTEL has been standing by CAMASEJ. And this is CAMTEL’s strategy to support a free, buoyant, free and independent press, that accompanies institutions, to contribute towards the development of the country.
“CAMASEJ is one of those journalism structures, that is not only responsible but committed to professional journalism and ethics,” Benedict added. “Cameroon is going through a lot and the media has an ultimate responsibility to play a key role, to maintain the oneness of the nation”.
CAMTEL as a corporate entity, is aligning with CAMASEJ, to be able to tell those stories, that affects the members of these communities.
“Telling those stories that transforms lives is also, our will of supporting and driving development across the country, ” he explained.

CAMTEL as official sponsor of this 2026, CAMASEJ Annual General Assembly, decided in accordance with the association to popularised the event.
“That’s why you will see along the streets of Bamenda, Limbe, Buea, Limbe, Kumba and Douala , Tiko, an exceptional decorum, with street banners floating and announcing this evening.
CAMTEL support journalists with huge package
CAMTEL has tremendously supported financially in the mobilisation of journalists, to participate in the event across different locations.
“Thanks to Madam Judith Yah Sunday epse Achidi, General manager of CAMTEL, who is personally very concerned about, our working relationship, with not only journalists but, most especially CAMASEJ”, he said.
He further says, she ensured that every participant or delegate, did not only received gadgets, but received packages, that reflects the image that CAMTEL stands to uphold.
“I saw many of them amazed and congratulating CAMTEL for extending its largesse to them”, he said. “It is for the first time that, a sponsor did not only contribute to their welfare financially, but ensure that they had valuable souvenirs to take along to their various homes. “
“For us to ensure that journalists do their work well, we as guarantors, of seamless connectivity in Cameroon, 2026 is a crucial year , because CAMTEL is modernising its infrastructure, within the frame work of our mobile network expansion project.” “We hope to ameliorate the quality of our internet, so journalists could work freely, without challenges,” Benedict Ndinwa concluded.
