Okie uses event to hand Constructed Church, Pastor’s residence to PCC

Also erect statue, use cultural celebrations to foster unity among 12 clans of Nguti

Mboka village also known as the City of God in Nguti Subdivision of Kupe-Muanenguba Division of the South West Region for three days, was transformed into a beehive with thousands coming in each day to celebrate the life of Papa Okie Jackson Sinke. The latter was father to Okie Johnson Ndoh who is also Director General of the Hydrocarbons Prices Stabilisation Fund popularly known as CSPH.

It all began on Friday, January 9, with the dedication of Presbyterian Church (PC) Mboka and the Pastor’s house constructed by Okie Johnson, some family friends and handed to the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, the PCC.

The colourful liturgical ceremony that was witnessed by a cream of officials and pastors from the PCC was presided at, by the PCC Synod Clarke, Rev. Ayuk Solomon Eta on behalf of the Moderator, the Rt Rev Miki Hans Abia. The Man of God focused his sermon on the theme, “…for me and my household, we will serve the Lord…” describing the gesture of Okie Johnson Ndoh as individual and family commitment to God. He called on others to emulate this big example by the son of Mboka to transform many lives. Rev Ayuk emphasized that this single act by Okie Johnson is that of commitment, which is needed in some difficult moments. The clergy invited the PCC Christians of Mboka to show appreciation to the donor by filling the church on each worship day.

The college of pastors prayed and invoked God’s favours on Okie Johnson Ndoh for him to continue with the art of showing love and touching many lives without boundaries.

The newly constructed house of worship is equipped state-of-the-art sanctuary table, chairs, pulpit, sound system, benches and fans with a well tiled floor.

Nguti Rich Culture Show-cased

The culture on Mboka and Nguti Subdivision in general was show-cased through an avalanche of traditional dances. The 12 clans that make up Mboka Subdivision each presented the rich culture of their repertoire that was spiced with their cuisine. This was under the auspices of the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO for Kupe-Muanenguba, the Member of Parliament, Hon Julius Fonge among others.

The cultural event was crowned by ace Artist, Ndedi Eyango who thrilled the thousands of spectators with his makossa rhythms. For over 90 minutes, the Makossa icon kept spectators on their feet as everything was on site to also quench their thirst.

It was also an opportunity for some local artists of Nguti Subdivision to mount the podium and keep their fans spell-bound.

The Pontifical Holy Mass

Day three of the celebration was marked by a Pontifical High Mass celebrated by the Apostolic Nuncio to Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, H.E. Jose Avelino Betterncourt. It was concelebrated by 11 Bishops and several priests in the presence of the governors of the North West and West Regions, the SDO for Kupe Muanenguba, Director Generals and, civil and traditional leaders among others.

Speaking during his homily, the Bishop of Mamfe, His Lordship Aloysius Fondong describes Okie Johnson as a very generous person whose generosity has no bounds. Bishop Aloysius Fondong said the great transformation in Mboka is thanks to the man called Okie Johnson Ndoh, who grew up as an orphan but has learned to share love and peace after his late father. While praying God to forgive the sins of Pa Jackson Sinke, which he committed out of human frailty and grant him a deserved place in heaven, he also prayed for the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and other members of the Sinke family that they may live in love and unity and do everything possible to continue the legacy of their patriarch.

Key points of the Pontifical Holy Mass was a special fund raiser to continue construction works at the Our Lady of Fatima Shrine Mboka, and the handing of a 40-sitter bus to ease transportation of pilgrims to the Shrine.

In recognition of all what the CSPH DG has done beautify Mboka, the Bishop of Mamfe offered him and spouse, a certificate of recognition.

Statue of Papa Okie Jackson Sinke erected to immortalise his memory

In another form of appreciation to those who have been assisting him in his development strides to the communities, Okie Johnson Ndoh offered some Statues of Our Lady of Fatima to the Director General of SCDP, the President Director General of Blessing Petroleum, the Governor of the North West Region and Archbishop Andrew Nkea for also constructing a Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Babadjou and Abangoh. The Catholic Men Association, CMA, Cameroon also received a Statue of Our Lady of Fatima for the support given to Okie Johnson Ndoh who is also the General President of the CMA. To crown the appreciations, the Apostolic Nuncio also received a special wooden Statue of Our Lady of Fatima. The three-day ended with the unveiling and blessing of the statue of Pa Okie Jackson Sinke in front of his compound by the Bishop of Mamfe.
