Senior administrative, political and security officials of the North West Region convened in Bamenda on December 22, 2025, to assess governance performance and strengthen coordination for the second semester of the year. The deliberations took place during the Regional Administrative Coordination Meeting (CCA) and the Regional Coordination Meeting for the Maintenance of Law and Order (CCO), held at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT), Up Station

Chaired by the Governor of the North West Region, Adolph Lele Lafrique, the meetings brought together Divisional Officers, elected representatives, security officials, heads of regional services and other stakeholders.

Opening the meetings, Governor Lele Lafrique described the coordination framework as an essential platform for collective evaluation and forward planning. He reviewed key achievements recorded in recent months, notably the successful organisation of presidential and regional elections, the hosting of the agro-pastoral show, and high-level diplomatic engagements, including the visit of the Apostolic Nuncio to Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea ahead of the anticipated visit of Pope Leo XIV.

On the political front, the Governor commended the high voter turnout observed across the Region and the installation of a new bureau at the Regional Assembly. He called on officials of Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) to sustain momentum and intensify preparations for the forthcoming municipal and legislative elections.

Development issues featured prominently in the discussions. Governor Lafrique cited the launch of the Bamenda Urban Crossing project and the commissioning of the Bamenda–Babadjou road by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, as tangible signs of renewed public investment in the Region’s infrastructure. He acknowledged persistent challenges, particularly staff shortages in certain public services, while noting that corrective measures are being considered following deliberations at the recent Governors’ Conference.

Security concerns remained at the core of the CCO deliberations. The Governor emphasized the need for sustained collaboration between local populations and defense and security forces to combat kidnappings, targeted killings and other forms of insecurity. He expressed concern over recent incidents affecting religious communities in Ndop and Sabga, as well as the assassination of the Member of Parliament for Donga Mantung, Hon. Abe Michael, and the Regional Delegate for Livestock. While noting that the general security situation remains relatively stable, he urged vigilance and renewed cooperation, and appealed to armed youth to lay down their weapons and enroll in Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) centers.

The CCA sessions featured sectoral presentations on universal health coverage, agriculture and rural development, education and school reopening in a fragile security context, youth empowerment through public investment projects, price control and food security, infrastructure development, and the promotion of transparency and good governance.

Participants concluded the meetings with a renewed commitment to coordinated action aimed at consolidating peace, improving service delivery and accelerating development in the North West Region.
