Opposition party, the Social Democratic Front, SDF, has restated its unwavering commitment to restore the image of the party, the truth of facts, and lay to rest past grievances and forge ahead with a spirit of solidarity and determination. The statement was made in a four-page document issued at the end of a Social Democratic Party, National Executive Committee meeting, NEC, held in Yaounde, on February, 7,2026.

The meeting also served as an opportunity to adopt the report of the presidential election of the 12th of October 2025 presented by the National Campaign Manager.

After Adopting the reports of the Regional Chairpersons on the October 2025 presidential election, the Chairman encouraged members to accelerate the preparations and the compilation of lists for the 2026 municipal and legislative elections.The party hierarchy called on all ward chairpersons, District Chairpersons and Regional Chairpersons to intensify the registration of voters as well as the transfer of voters on the electoral register before the imminent summoning of the electorate for the 2026 elections.

They equally approved the 2024 and 2025 financial report of the party, including the part of the report that covers the 2025 Presidential Election, presented by the National Treasurer.

Special measures were taken on both abroad and in Yaounde by the legal advisers of the Party against some individuals who defamed our Candidate during the past Presidential Election and requests them to pursue the matter until justice is served.

They took the commitment to take from now henceforth, immediate legal action against any individual or group of persons who will defame the party or the party hierarchy.

They also invited party members who wish to stand as candidates in the upcoming 2026 legislative or municipal elections to indicate their interest with the various party structures as soon as possible.

While at the NEC meeting the party Chairman and his collaborators reviewed the 12 October, 2025 Presidential Election in Cameroon; the imbroglio within the executive powers, best ascertained by the recent Port of Douala saga; the extractive industries scandal revealed by the SDF in parliament and contained in the EITI’s most recent report that reveals losses of more than 165 billion CFA in tax revenue linked to fraud in the gold sector on just one importing partner; the controversial and unfavorable re-nationalisation of ENEO;

Also, the scandalous contract signed between the State of Cameroon and EDC concerning the Nachtigal hydro-electric project, that obliges the State of Cameroon to pay 10 billion FCFA per month to NHPC whether ENEO consumes this energy or not.

The repetitive scandalous procurement contracts subjected to, the most recent one being the purchase of 21 500 solar street lights for a sum of 21.4 billion FCFA (+/-1 million per light) concluded outside of the obvious financial orthodoxy, tendering processes and decentralisation objectives;

The convening of the electoral college for the legislative and municipal elections of 2026. And the events that recently unfolded in Ndu and Kolofata;

National Executive Committee condemns CPDM regime electoral machinery

The SDF officials in a strong statement condemned the CPDM regime for the massive electoral fraud observed throughout the national territory particularly in the North West and South West Regions during the 2025 Presidential Election and further condemns them for failing to take appropriate security measures to ensure voter participation in these troubled and crisis-hit regions.

They blame the CPDM elite from the North West and South West Regions who worked together with separatist armed groups and armed bandits to stuff ballot boxes in these Regions and also condemns the government’s complacency to appropriately hold these individuals judicially responsible for their acts.

Calls on ELECAM to dismantle electoral set-ups

They urged Elections Cameroon, ELECAM, to dismantle wherever possible, the electoral catchment centers put in place in the North West and South West Regions. And calls on the party hierarchy to immediately make practical propositions to the President of the Board of Elections of ELECAM towards that resolve. They reiterated their call on the government to revise the electoral code in order to usher in free and fair elections.

Need for effective Control of State Corporations

For them, government should scrupulously respect the regulations concerning state controlled companies that implies the effective functioning of a Board of Directors within which all the administrations concerned are represented in order to appropriately discuss, amongst other issues, the evaluation and orientation of the public entity in question.

They frown at the fact that, the government and the Port Authority of Douala are quarreling over a concession whereas the essence of this concession in the first place was to Build, Operate and Transfer that activity to the Cameroonian Customs after ten years.

Condemns privatisation of State entities

The statement further condemns the failure of the privatisation of state corporations by the government, as shown with the recent re-acquisition of ENEO allowing a speculative fund to make money on the back of Cameroonians through the corrupt and incompetent decisions of our government.

They condemn, the fact that Cameroonians are paying for electricity they don’t receive as witnessed by the scandalous contract signed between the State of Cameroon and EDC concerning the Nachtigal Hydro-electric Project, that obliges the State of Cameroon to pay 10 billion FCFA per month to NHPC whether ENEO consume this energy or not while we suffer from constant and increasing load shedding whereas the energy produced through heavy loans does not get to our door steps. They congratulated the SDF parliamentarians for haven taken up this issue in parliament.

SDF denounce decentralisation setbacks

They assert, it is surprised that at a time when the entire nation is in dire need of effective decentralisation, the government still actively interferes into the prerogatives of our councils, as evidenced by the purchase of highly over evaluated street lights for the obvious sole purpose of securing retro commissions.

NEC condemns barbaric killings

The SDF adds, it’s voice to strongly condemn the barbaric murder of 14 civilians including many very young children and women by an unidentified armed group in Ndu Subdivision of the North West Region.

Sympathizes with the victims of the Kolofata fire incident that caused the loss of a number of lives and unrepairable damage of more than 3,000 households.

Condemns the continuous terrorism exercised by Boko Haram on the people of the Far North Region and calls on the government to intensify its efforts to eradicate this sect from this Region.

Calls on Cameroonians to work together for their interest

The SDF calls on Cameroonians to recognize the world as it is today, without illusions about old norms. Calls on African nations and the Government of Cameroon in particular to work together to protect their interests, because if they are not at the table, there is a strong risk of being on the menu and build strategic autonomy and resilience through cooperation, diversified partnerships, and shared values.

Recalls the founding principles of the SDF anchored in the rule of law and democracy and reiterates their stand on the non-support for autocratic and military regimes.
