Hundreds of young people converged on the Bambili University playground on February 11, 2026, as Tubah Subdivision marked the 60th edition of Cameroon’s National Youth Day with an impressive display of patriotism, discipline and civic engagement.

Held under the national theme “Youth at the heart of great hope, for a united, stable and prosperous Cameroon,” the celebration brought together students, youth organisations and local stakeholders for a full programme of activities, including a ceremonial march-past, a football encounter, and the live relay of the Head of State’s traditional address to the nation’s youth.

Massango Metougue Narcisse: Divisional Officer for Tubah Subdivision

Presiding over the event, the Divisional Officer for Tubah Subdivision, Massango Metougue Narcisse, expressed satisfaction with the level of mobilisation and participation. He noted that the turnout reflected a renewed commitment by young people in the Subdivision to national values and public life.

According to the administrative authority, the celebration was not only symbolic but also instructional, as it echoed the Head of State’s call for responsible citizenship, moral uprightness and discipline among the youth. He encouraged young people to believe in themselves and to adopt conduct that brings honour to their families and communities.

Adding his voice, Hon. Ghejung Awunti, Commissioner for Economic Development at the North West Regional Assembly, challenged the youth to remain focused on long-term goals and to take advantage of the opportunities available within the Subdivision. He highlighted the presence of the University of Bamenda and several other higher education institutions in Bambili as strategic assets for youth empowerment and skills development.

The regional lawmaker further underscored Tubah’s strong representation within the Regional Assembly, urging young people to trust public institutions and actively contribute to development initiatives that secure their future.

The ceremony was attended by administrative officials, local elites, representatives of the Cameroon National Youth Council, conscripts, and youth groups drawn from schools and associations across the Subdivision. The orderly conduct and enthusiastic participation throughout the event underscored Tubah’s resolve to place its youth at the centre of peace-building, unity and sustainable development.
