In a country where acts of valor and quiet dedication too often pass without public recognition, Senior Warrant Officer Taku Paul has stepped into the spotlight as a powerful testament to professionalism, duty, and human compassion.
The esteemed Chief of Centre for the Bamenda Army Rescue Unit was honored in Douala on Saturday 19, 2026 with a prestigious award from the Cameroon English Newspaper Publishers Association (CENPA). Selected from a competitive pool of notable nominees, Senior Warrant Officer Taku stands among an elite group of distinguished Cameroonians recognized by CENPA for extraordinary commitment and service to the nation. The vibration witnessed in the hall when he was called out to take the award is a clear testament that CENPA spoke the minds of Cameroonians who by themselves have been seeing and appreciating the work of these selected Cameroonians.

Throughout his tenure leading the rescue unit in the North West Region, Taku has built a reputation for remarkable bravery and steadfast resilience. Facing high-stakes crises on a regular basis, his tactical skill and swift responsiveness have proved decisive. Whether spearheading containment efforts during devastating fire outbreaks, coordinating complex rescue operations for flood victims, or extracting individuals from severe traffic accidents, his approach remains grounded in urgency and precision. Colleagues and community members alike note that his devotion to saving lives knows no bounds, serving all people in distress without discrimination.
Beyond his physical courage during emergency interventions, Taku is widely respected for his firm stance on justice and human dignity. He operates under the conviction that true rescue work extends past immediate emergency aid to encompass fairness and ongoing support for the vulnerable. His career reflects a rare dual commitment: physically pulling citizens from danger while actively championing their rights, cementing his role as a vital pillar of strength within the region.

The significance of the national honor was palpable during the official CENPA Award ceremony, where the Chief Warrant Officer humbly accepted the accolade on behalf of his entire team.
“I was invited here to come and receive this award for the job well done by me and my colleagues,” Taku stated during his acceptance speech. “I have been spending most of my time in Bamenda with my colleagues to work for the community and for the population of the North West Region of Cameroon. What I have been doing, I never knew that people are seeing and noticing what we are doing until this day. I promise to continue to do my work well so that in future I will receive more awards.”
The third edition of the CENPA award did not only validate years of selfless sacrifice on the front lines of emergency response in Bamenda, but it also underscores a growing public appreciation for those who put their lives on the line to keep Cameroonians safe. For Senior Warrant Officer Taku Paul, the national recognition serves as both a proud milestone and a renewed pledge to serve his country with unwavering resolve.
